General Conference and an Amazing Week

Image
Buenas Días! Wow this week was awesome! I loved General Conference and I learned so much, and felt the spirit. I hope you all had similar experiences or better. If you don't know what General Conference is, you can still watch it.  Go to  www.thechurchofjesuschrist.org .  It is a conference that happens twice a year when we get to listen to the prophet and other church leaders.  I am grateful to know that the Lord still speaks to a prophet today. This week my emails going be shorter and different. You're welcome haha, for those of you who just look at the pictures. Anyway just going to talk shortly about the actual week, then just share my favorite part about General Conference.  Anyway, so this week was very interesting. Here are some highlights:  1. I gave 12 priesthood blessings in broken Spanish, with in the span of 24 hours. So grateful that we have the same power of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I am glad that we had the o...

Rejection, a Miracle and Very Big News

Image
Hey everyone! I'm alive! I feel great and I appreciate all the prayers. I certainly made a fast recovery and I'm grateful for that.  This past week I wasn't supposed to leave the house at all to work, but the doctor cleared me on Friday to work. Yay! Unfortunately this means I only had 3 days to write about but they sure have been interesting.  Noteworthy items:  1. My first zone conference! 2. I ate mole for the first time!  3. My companion accidentally flooded the apartment with an inch of water, luckily we are on the first floor haha.  4. Stake conference!  Some details on some of my favorite experiences this week.  My first day working we had appointments with 4 different family's/people. And we had 1 cancel and the others weren't home. Soo we walked about 2 miles up the hill to a park where there's normally a lot of people. I thought it would be a good place to contact. When we got there it was pouring rain, and for som...

Count your blessings

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! This week was great and filled with learning experiences.  I went to my first baptism here in Mexico. It was interesting to say the least haha. Since we live close to the stake center my companion and I went to fill the baptismal font. When we got there the doors weren't open and no one in the building had keys for the baptismal font doors. For some reason they don't give baptismal font keys to missionaries haha. Anyways we were at a loss and then my Zone leaders came along and broke in with a knife haha. Gotta do what you gotta do to get a baptism. Then we saw that the font was still filled with water. Sooo as it goes here the new kid's (me) gotta suffer and I took off my shoes and socks and waded across to drain and then fill the font. Fun times. During the actual baptism the kid kept saying "Tengo miedo" over and over and kept running away from poor Elder Roylance, who was going to baptize him. As he was baptized...

Dia de Independencia (Mexico)

Image
Hey guys! So once again so sorry for the very general email last week. It was my first P-Day in the field so I was still learning the ropes. And yes, my P-Day is on Monday. This week it was changed because of Mexican Independence Day 1 was on Sunday night, and Day 2 was even more dangerous because of the after parties and parades. So we had to be in our houses at 6pm both days.  Independence Days were lit and were filled with food, fireworks, drunk people, etc. Gotta love Mexico. Lots of Pan dulce and tacos. Safe to say I was in heaven. Speaking of food. One thing different here is that we eat lunch with members not dinner. Because lunch is the biggest meal here during siesta 1-5 when when we can't contact anyone. The food here is amazing. We use tortillas as utensils and I have no idea why but the "Coca" (Coca-Cola) is soooooo much better here and very popular. My favorite food here has been either Cemitas or Tacos Arabes. This week I ate conejo (rabbit) fo...

Hola de Tehuaca

Hey guys! Soooooo once again I have no time to write emails. Just know that I love each one of you and appreciate all your emails! So I am in the field! I'm in the Zone Tehuacan and Area Observatario. I'm working very hard and Spanish is coming along pretty well. I'm loving the people. My companion is Elder Hernandez and he is from Sinola.  He is great and we love to work hard.  He only speaks Spanish so my Spanish will get better really quickly.  We have a lot of inactive members in our ward so we are working on reactivating them.  We are also teaching a lady who is seriously considering baptism but she knows what a big decision it is, so she wants to take her time and be sure.  I think she is being really smart about it.   The members are taking good care of me.  Lunch is the main meal here and we eat with members.  I eat chicken every lunch.  There are pollerias at every corner. My stomach has had a few issues with the food but I...
