General Conference and an Amazing Week
Buenas Días! Wow this week was awesome! I loved General Conference and I learned so much, and felt the spirit. I hope you all had similar experiences or better. If you don't know what General Conference is, you can still watch it. Go to www.thechurchofjesuschrist.org
This week my emails going be shorter and different. You're welcome haha, for those of you who just look at the pictures. Anyway just going to talk shortly about the actual week, then just share my favorite part about General Conference.
Anyway, so this week was very interesting. Here are some highlights:
1. I gave 12 priesthood blessings in broken Spanish, with in the span of 24 hours. So grateful that we have the same power of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I am glad that we had the opportunity to help others as Christ did.
One of our good friends here in the area had a very difficult week. His step dad was shot and killed and so was his brother. We were able to go to the hospital to provide a Priesthood Blessing to the brother but in the end the Lord decided that he wanted to bring him home. It was difficult to see him all covered in blood and suffering but we knew that the Lord's will would be done. We provided blessings of comfort for several family members as they were really heartbroken over what happened. It was so sad to see them suffer.
2. We started teaching 3 new people. They are 10, 17, 18 years old! Pretty cool it's pretty rare that we teach people younger then us so it's very exciting. They seem very interested in our message too so that's good.
3. We have baptisms this coming week! It makes me so happy to know that they are choosing to follow in Christ's footsteps to be baptized and take upon the name of Christ.
I learned so much at General Conference and it's so hard to pick one topic that was my favorite. But I want to share the talk by Elder D. Todd Christofferson one of our apostles! He said:
"Joy doesn't depend on what's happening in our lives, Joy depends on the focus of our lives."
I absolutely love this quote! A scripture that comes to mind is
"Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy"
2 Nephi 2:25
I was thinking, sometimes we have hard times in this life. We may feel depressed, sad, stressed, or inadequate because life is hard. I know life is hard and I have had my fair share of struggles. But in the end I have come to realize that my true happiness is found when I center my life on the Savior. I am happy and content being a Son of God. I know Jesus Christ is my brother and my Savior. Both my Heavenly Father and my brother Jesus Christ know how I feel and they are there to help me. I know they love me.
I have found that as I focus on Christ, even though something may be hard, I am happy! Your Heavenly Father and Brother want you to be happy as well. They want the best for you and will not give you a trial that you cannot overcome.
You are all Children of God. God loves you. Jesus loves you. I promise you and challenge you all to focus on Christ, and becoming more like him. I guarantee you as you do so you will find true everlasting joy.
