Count your blessings
Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! This week was great and filled with learning experiences.
I went to my first baptism here in Mexico. It was interesting to say the least haha. Since we live close to the stake center my companion and I went to fill the baptismal font. When we got there the doors weren't open and no one in the building had keys for the baptismal font doors. For some reason they don't give baptismal font keys to missionaries haha. Anyways we were at a loss and then my Zone leaders came along and broke in with a knife haha. Gotta do what you gotta do to get a baptism. Then we saw that the font was still filled with water. Sooo as it goes here the new kid's (me) gotta suffer and I took off my shoes and socks and waded across to drain and then fill the font. Fun times. During the actual baptism the kid kept saying "Tengo miedo" over and over and kept running away from poor Elder Roylance, who was going to baptize him. As he was baptized, kid grabbed his tie and choked poor Roylance. As he wasn't fully submerged we had to redo the ordinance but finally the kid was baptized. Overall, pretty interesting first baptismal service.
Thursday I had a conference with all the new missionaries and trainers! I got to see all my friends from the CCM again! Downside/Upside was it was in Puebla. Which was cool because I've barely been in Puebla. But also took us about 3 1/2 hours to get to Puebla and another 3 1/2 to get back to Tehuacan from Puebla. When the meeting was about 4-5 hours haha. So it took up a whole day. But it was good times and we learned a lot. Unfortunately it will be the last time we see each other for another 22 months all together so that's a little sad. But it was definitely nice to see them.
Very few work days this week so there isn't a whole lot to talk about besides these 2 experiences. Spanish is coming along very well and usual and growing a lot.
A scripture I've been thinking a lot about this past week is in Amos 3:7. It reads...
7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
I love this scripture so much. It testifies of Gods love for each one of us. Because God loves us he gives us advice, counsel, answers to our prayers, and warnings through his prophets and apostles. I know that we have a living prophet Russel M. Nelson and apostles. They are guided by Jesus Christ in what they need to share. And they are here for all the world. In a little less then 2 weeks we have the opportunity to listen to Heavenly counsel. I know we all can learn things from the messages that are going to be shared, even if we are from a different faith. time I come away learning something new and uplifted by the spirit.
I urge and invite you all. No matter of your beliefs to listen to the broadcast. If you are interested in listening please email me and I can help you find how to watch or put you in contact with someone who can help as well.
I am so grateful for the Lord's prophets and apostles and I am very excited to hear from them soon. Love you all so very much. Count your many blessings and thank the Lord for what you have. I am pretty sick so I would appreciate all your prayers for my health and that my companion and I can find people the share the Gospel with.
Choose to be happy always!
Love,
Elder Sandberg
