Heading into the Real World

Hey everybody! Thank you all so much for all so much for the Birthday wishes! It made my day to get emails from everyone. Good to know I haven’t been forgotten already haha. It was definitely a different birthday than normal. Nothing like the Sabbath day to “celebrate” my birthday. Sorry if I did not get around to responding to them today I am super busy with packing and getting ready to leave the CCM and go to Puebla. I think God let me know in his own way he knew what day it was. I had meetings all morning and then I was called to give my talk in Sacrament meeting in Spanish. (The way we do talks in my zone is every week everyone prepares a talk in Spanish on a certain topic, then in Sacrament meeting they randomly pick people). I think overall it was a good experience. I talked about God’s Plan of Salvation for us as His children. I discussed how knowing that God has a plan for us has brought me so much peace and joy, and I want to share that with others. I know that His plan i...

Hola mis amigos! I’ll keep it short. I’ve had a great week. It’s crazy to think in a little more then a week I’ll be in the field teaching the people of Puebla México.  Some fun experiences I’ve had this week.  1. Elder Obray in my district had his birthday so we got to sing Happy Happy Birthday in Spanish  2. Got to play b-ball today with Elder Kimball,  just like back home at BYU 3. Got to play soccer for 3 hours with my Latino friends 4. I sang my first English hymn since I left and it felt so awkward. 5. Got to hear from Elder Bednar I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to hear from our apostle, Elder Bednar this past week. He spoke about how there are no coincidences in life. Our Father in Heaven, our Savior, and the Holy Ghost are all guiding our lives. We always have the opportunity to be a representative of Christ and make someone’s day better or to share the gospel. Elder Bednar reminded us that God is on our right hand, our left hand...

Hey guys so not a long email this time I have to go study in 16 minutes. So this week an been amazing a few experiences.  1. Got absolutely drenched one of these nights and it was great. Reminded me of Elder Rees. It’s rainy season here so it rains literally every night and it’s about 85 degrees during the day. It’s great.  2. For breakfast one of the days we had pancakes. One of the kids in my district drenched his in “buttermilk syrup”. Turns out it was gravy.  3. CCM water tower was hit by lightning and it felt like the CCM was getting shelled. Fun...  4. Got to go to the temple and go through a session in Spanish which I mostly understood. Improvement right?  5. Our water busted so I didn’t get to shower after a muddy soccer game.  From my reading this week I was reading in  Ether 12:4. It’s says  5 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hop...

Bienvenidos a Mexico City, Mexico

Hey guys... I’m alive! I’m here at the CCM (Centro de Capacitación Misional México) and I’ve been here for 11 days now! CCM is the Spanish translation for MTC (Missionary Training Center). This is where we are taught spanish and how to teach the gospel most effectively and how to bring the Holy Ghost into our lessons. The CCM is in the middle of México City, México. The campus here is beautiful and filled with the spirit. There are 1,000 missionary’s here currently and its an amazing sight to see. The campus here is beautiful and surrounded by 20 ft walls with barbed wire. I am very safe here and it is a beautiful city that we can see from inside. My first night here it was pretty hard to sleep because all you hear through the night is a bunch of loud noises from the police and cartels going at it. Plus  at about 3:07 AM  you hear over the wall from a megaphone "Tamales, Tamales, Tamales". Then during the day you hear and see fireworks. We have a saying here, "Fiestas a ...
